Happy 11th Birthday, Austin!
Dogs are our best friends, first children, and beloved members of the family. Including your dog in your engagement photos may add an extra challenge, but it’s worth the effort. Here are a few tips for a FUN engagement session with your dog.
1. Bring a friend or two. It’s very helpful to have someone hold the leash for shots without your dog. They can also help get the dog’s attention.
2. Take your dog for a walk or play some fetch before you start getting ready to burn off some energy.
3. Pick out your dog’s “outfit.” You might want to pick a leash that coordinates with your outfits. If in doubt if your dog’s collar or harness will work best for photos, pack both. Remove excess tags, bag holders, etc.
4. Bring water, especially on hot days. Pack treats, a toy, or a squeaker to get your dogs attention.
5. Choose a photographer with experience working with dogs and people, so they make both you and your dog look good. Dog photography also requires the patience you find with someone who loves working with dogs.
